24 hour towing along the Bayonne light rail, NJ: the 8th, 22nd, 34th and 45th Street stops and the lots beside them
The Hudson-Bergen Light Rail runs up the west side of the peninsula with four Bayonne stops, at 8th, 22nd, 34th and 45th Streets, and the last train from Hoboken pulls in after one in the morning. Between the stations runs Avenue E, with Bayonne Medical Center at 29th Street and its shift changes at eleven and seven. Commuter cars that sat all day, keys on the seat, hospital lots at the end of a shift: a tow truck near you at any hour, and a driver who knows which lot has which entrance.
The last train, the station lots and the hospital at shift change: towing along the light rail
Light rail calls in Bayonne come in two waves, after the last train and at the hospital shift changes, and almost all of them are batteries, lockouts and cars that sat too long, which makes a jump the first thing we try before a tow, at the same $149 flat booking fee, $129 when you book online.
34th Street and 45th Street: the park-and-ride crowd
The two uptown stops draw the most commuter cars, parked at seven in the morning and left until after midnight. A battery that was weak at breakfast is finished by the last train. Say which station and which row, stay with the car, and the driver rings from the lot entrance; the jump pack usually settles it.
22nd Street and 8th Street: the walk home and the end of the line
The two southern stops send riders back to cars on the cross streets or to the terminus lot at 8th. Keys shut in the car, a flat picked up on Avenue E, a car that will not turn over in the cold. Give the station and the side, or the street with East or West if the car is on a block nearby.
Bayonne Medical Center at 29th and Avenue E
Night-shift nurses and techs come out at seven to cars that sat in the lot since the previous evening, and the day shift leaves at eleven to the same thing. Once you have phoned, security lets the truck through. Give dispatch the lot or the deck level and say whether you are with the car or still inside.
Avenue E and the streets between the stations
Avenue E runs the length of the west side between Kennedy Boulevard and the tracks, residential most of the way, with driveways cut tight between parked cars. A crossover that will not start in one of those driveways rides a flatbed, and the driver sets the truck so nobody's exit is blocked while it loads.
Dead in a station lot after the last train? Name the station and the row. A jump is the first try.

Call nowLight rail stops: common questions
Short answers to what people ask about this page; the dispatcher can answer the rest.
Do you come to the 34th Street or 45th Street lot after the last train?
Yes, at any hour. Say which station and which row, and stay with the car. Most of these calls are dead batteries, cleared with a jump for less than a tow.
Can you get into the Bayonne Medical Center lots?
Yes. Phone first and security lets the truck in. Tell dispatch the lot or deck level and whether you are with the car or still in the building.
I locked my keys in the car at the 22nd Street station. What now?
Call, say which station and which side, and stay near the car. A lockout is one flat price, the driver opens the door with non-marring tools, and you are on your way.
How fast can a truck reach the light rail stops from Linden?
About 25 minutes from the yard to 14A and then down Avenue E or Kennedy Boulevard, when the truck starts cold. A truck already on Route 440 or in Jersey City is much closer, and the dispatcher quotes from there.
